UN Women HeForShe Film Series

UN Women’s HeForShe campaign caused a stir in 2014 when actress (and current Vanity Fair cover star) Emma Watson delivered an historic speech in New York exhorting cooperation between the sexes to work towards gender equality. Now, continuing in the same vein, the HeForShe campaign is furthering its use of the cinematic medium and its collaboration with filmmakers with a series of films screening from International Women’s Day onwards. Four films will be screened in partnership with Curzon Cinemas and Jimmy Choo: A Quiet Passion, Beauty and the Beast, Lady Macbeth and Their Finest, but as exciting—if not more so—is the line-up of both male and female speakers slated for post-screening discussions, including Golden Globe winner Bill Nighy, who stars in Their Finest, feminist playwright and Lady Macbeth screenwriter Alice Birch and director Terence Davies.
