The Mandrake Hotel

When British Vogue’s new editor, Edward Enninful, hosted the BFC Vogue Designer Fashion Fund party earlier this week, it wasn’t Le Caprice, The Wolseley, 5 Hertford Street, or any of the other usual haunts which got the nod to host. Instead it was The Mandrake Hotel, a new property in Fitzrovia which should be firmly on your map as winter draws in. With a self-described hedonistic aesthetic, this isn’t a destination for the minimally inclined: the walls are covered with imposing artworks by the likes of Italian contemporary artist Francesco Clemente and Berlin-based painter Jonas Burgert, and interiors flaunt other design flourishes like the incredible chandelier by jeweller and designer Lara Bohinc (pictured). The hotel also hosts the first international outpost of Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred restaurant Serge et le Phoque, as well as a greenhouse terrace and a spectacular outdoor courtyard.
