START 2017

Bored of the typical international art circuit and its familiar faces? Then START 2017, opening next week, should be on your radar. The fair’s USP is to exhibit art from developing global markets: top gallerists from Australia, Nigeria, Taiwan and elsewhere fly in to showcase their best work at the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea. Highlights include Oxholm Gallery from Denmark, who are exhibiting for the first time with the work of Eric Lacombe (pictured), and Chinese artist Liu Bolin, who will perform live in his London debut. Liu’s work famously sees him immerse himself fully within a background, and over the course of the fair, visitors will see this process in action until he becomes invisible. The fair kicks off a veritable “art month” in London, which will culminate with Frieze in the first week of October: ease yourself in gently with START.
