At the last count, there are some 102.6 million posts tagged #Design on Instagram. Let that number sink in. Even when you drill down into more specific categories, the numbers are still astounding (#Interior Design chalks up 31.8 million posts, while #HomeDecor comes in at 20.8 million). Has social media made us more obsessed with interiors or is our enthusiasm just more visible? The growth of the London Design Festival suggests the former, with audiences and spending power growing year on year. One of the 2017 highlights is designjunction, now in its seventh year and in a permanent home in King’s Cross. As well as a trade component at Cubitt House and Cubitt Park, featuring London brands like Harris & Harris (pictured), one of the great things about the four-day extravaganza is it shoppability: stop by The Canopy to see pop-up retail offerings from top players in fashion, technology, textiles and stationery, or head along to The Crossing to see installations from the top brains in design.
