Italian cloth, Indian embroidery, Austrian lace: Belize, a new fashion label set up by Valeska Duetsch and Fiona Bansal, is all about tapping into the skills of the best craftspeople around the world. Duetsch, the creative behind the brand, was born and raised in West Berlin, and her experience designing for Stella McCartney and Chloé is evident in Belize’s chic tailoring and 1970s feel. The distinction, though, comes in their signature embroidery which, rendered in red-wine burgundy and fern green, looks more elevated and less cluttered than you might imagine. Covering the business end of things is Net-A-Porter alumna Bansal, so while the brand may have only produced two collections so far, this is certainly one to watch.
